Galileo Chini (Florence 1873)

    • Galileo Chini was born to Elio, a tailor and amateur flugelhorn player, and Aristea Bastiani.
    • He attended the Scuola d’Arte di Santa Croce in Florence, where he studied decoration.

  2. Ceramics and Decorative Arts:

Jan Toorop (Netherlands, 1858-1928)

Jan Toorop was a Dutch painter, illustrator, and graphic artist who was born in 1858 and died in 1928. He was a leading figure in the modern art movements in the Netherlands and played a key role in the development of Art Nouveau in the country. Toorop studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague and later traveled to Paris, where he was exposed to the work of the French Impressionists and the Symbolist movement. He was known for his paintings, prints, and illustrations, which often featured symbolic and allegorical elements. Toorop's work was exhibited widely in Europe and the United States, and it is held in private and public collections around the world.

Wojciech Weiss (1875 – 1950) was a prominent Polish painter and draughtsman of theYoung Poland movement. Weiss was born in Bukovina to a Polish family in exile. He gave up music training to study art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakówunder Leon Wyczółkowski. Weiss originally painted historical or mythological paintings, but later switched to Expressionism after being profoundly influenced by Stanisław Przybyszewski. Weiss later became a member of the Vienna Secession. He was one of the first Polish Art Nouveau poster designers. 
Near the end of his life, he made several significant contributions to paintings of the Socialist realism in Poland. (more on wikipedia)

Gustav Klimt (July 14, 1862 – February 6, 1918) was an Austrian symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement. Klimt is noted for his paintings, murals, sketches, and other art objects. Klimt's primary subject was the female body; his works are marked by a frank eroticism.

Alphons Mucha (1860- 1939) è stato uno dei più importanti esponenti della corrente artistica che va sotto il nome di Art Nouveau. Nato in Moravia (attuale Repubblica Ceca), viaggiò molto e lavorò nelle principali capitali del nuovo stile artistico, ovvero Vienna e Parigi.
Il suo stile, dato per sorpassato già alla sua morte, ha invece avuto grande fortuna negli anni ‘60 e, tutt’oggi, è apprezzatissimo per l’indiscussa eleganza delle sue inimitabili donne.
