John Elwyn (British, 1916-1997)

John Elwyn (1916-1997) was a British painter known for his landscapes and marine scenes. He was born in London and studied at the Royal Academy Schools and the Slade School of Fine Art. Elwyn was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists and had numerous solo exhibitions during his career. He was known for his detailed, realistic depictions of the natural world, particularly the coastline and countryside of Wales, where he lived for much of his life. 
Elwyn's work is held in public and private collections around the world, including the National Museum of Wales and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
