Andrew Macara is a British painter known for his landscapes and cityscapes. He was born in 1944 and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in London. He has had numerous solo exhibitions of his work in the UK and abroad, and his paintings are held in the collections of several major museums and institutions, including the British Museum, the Royal Academy of Arts, and the National Museum of Wales.
Macara is known for his muted, atmospheric paintings of urban and rural landscapes, which often feature quiet, empty streets and buildings bathed in soft light. In addition to his work as a painter, Macara has also taught at various art schools and has been involved in mentoring and supporting younger artists.
