Sento il bisogno, sì il bisogno, di dipingere volti […] sono quasi allucinato dai volti delle persone […] Come un segno ignoto, come se ci fosse qualcosa da vedere che non si vede al primo colpo d’occhio.
I feel the need, yes need, to paint faces [...] I am almost haunted by the faces of the people [...] As a sign unknown, as if there was something to see that you do not see at first glance.
The object of art is not to reproduce reality, but to create a reality of the same intensity.
