Edward Willis Redfield (1869-1965) was an American landscape painter known for his Impressionist style and his paintings of the Pennsylvania countryside. He was born in Stockton, New Jersey and grew up on a farm, which influenced his love of nature and the rural landscape. Redfield studied art at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and later traveled to Europe to continue his studies. He returned to the United States and settled in New Hope, Pennsylvania, where he became a member of the New Hope School of landscape painters. Redfield was known for his bright, vibrant paintings of the Pennsylvania countryside, particularly the Delaware River Valley, and he became one of the leading figures of the American Impressionist movement. His work is held in numerous public and private collections and has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world.
