Bram van Velde was a Dutch painter who was active in the mid-20th century. He was born in 1895 in The Hague, Netherlands, and studied art at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Van Velde was known for his abstract, expressive paintings, which often featured bold, gestural brushstrokes and a limited palette of bright, saturated colors. He was part of the Cobra movement, a group of artists who were known for their expressive, spontaneous style and their interest in primal, childlike forms.

Van Velde was also a member of the French Surrealist movement and was associated with artists such as André Breton and Jean Arp. In addition to his work as a painter, he also created prints, collages, and other mixed media works. Van Velde's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world and is held in numerous public and private collections. He died in 1981 in Valence, France.
