Rita Ackermann (Hungarian/American, b. 1968)

Rita Ackermann is a Hungarian-American artist known for her abstract paintings, drawings, and installations. She was born in Hungary in 1968 and immigrated to the United States in the 1990s. Ackermann received her MFA from Columbia University in New York City and has exhibited her work widely in galleries and museums around the world. Her work is held in numerous public and private collections, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City. Ackermann's work is known for its expressive brushwork and its use of bold, vibrant colors, and she often incorporates text and collage elements into her paintings and drawings. Ackermann is also a member of the band The Screamers and has published several books of poetry and fiction.
