Mitchell Johnson is an American artist known for his abstract paintings and mixed media works. He was born in 1964 and received his BFA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1986. Johnson has exhibited his work in galleries and museums across the United States, and his work is held in numerous private and public collections, including the North Carolina Museum of Art and the Mint Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition to his painting practice, Johnson is also a professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he teaches courses in painting and drawing.
