a yellow black scene, with something mysterious
Max Cohn was an American painter and printmaker who was active in the 20th century. He was born in 1903 in New York City and studied art at the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League. Cohn was known for his landscape paintings and his interest in the rural areas of the northeastern United States. He often depicted the rolling hills, forests, and streams of the region in his work, using a muted palette and loose, expressive brushwork.
Cohn was also interested in printmaking, and produced a number of etchings and lithographs during his career. He was a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the National Academy of Design, and his work was exhibited widely in the United States. Cohn continued to paint and create prints until the end of his life, and he died in 1998 at the age of 95.
