Alexander Volkov (Russian, 1886-1957)

Alexander Volkov was a Russian painter who was active in the first half of the 20th century. He was born in 1886 in Moscow and studied art at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture. Volkov was a member of the Russian avant-garde movement, which was characterized by a radical departure from traditional forms of art and a focus on experimentation and innovation.

Volkov was known for his abstract paintings, which often incorporated geometric shapes and patterns. He was interested in the relationship between color and form, and his work often explored the interplay of different hues and tones. Volkov exhibited his work widely in Russia and Europe, and his work can be found in many major art museums around the world. He died in 1957 at the age of 71.
